afterPARTY: You now that is for the first time here in Romania, what do you know about Romanian clubbers? Above & Beyond: All we know is from all the postings we get on our MySpace page – everyone seems very friendly and glad that we’re coming, so that’s nice. afterPARTY: What’s your opinion about the Romanian clubbing scene? Above & Beyond: Ask us on Sunday! afterPARTY: Here in Romania, most of our clubs are playing your hit “Good for me”, what inspired you to make this song? Above & Beyond: The track came about when Zoe (the singer) was pregnant and Paavo’s wife was also expecting, so love was in the air! afterPARTY: How can a clubber start working within the music scene? Above & Beyond: There are lots of opportunities, as a DJ, as a dancer, as a producer, in a record shop or in a record company. afterPARTY: WMC… 2007, tell us more about your gig over there? Above & Beyond: We did a few gigs, but our own night in Bed was really good, we played for five hours and it was packed and crazy from start to finish! afterPARTY: What makes a party great? And what makes a great afterparty?! Above & Beyond: Great music and great people make the best parties and afterparties. And a willingness to let your hair down! afterPARTY: Did “Trance around the World” helped you growing up quickly or what? Above & Beyond: It does seem to have produced quite a bit of traction for us around the world, especially in places we haven’t been before – people know who we are and listen to the show and always tell us so when we DJ. Its great! afterPARTY: Turntables, CDJs or laptop? Why? Above & Beyond: CD’s because they are easy to carry and you can play stuff you’ve just produced in the studio. Vinyl is great but too difficult to carry abroad with the new carry on baggage rules, and laptops are a bit too geeky and its cheating! afterPARTY: What projects have you got coming up? Above & Beyond: We’re working on an OceanLab album with Justine and putting the final touches to Anjunabeats Volume Five which will have three new A&B mixes on! afterPARTY: On the 31 of March you’ll be @ WTP in Bucharest, have you prepared a singular gig for Romanian clubbers or at least a new song of yours we’ll hear for the first time here?? Above & Beyond: We have a new mix of “Home” which we’ll be playing, and the two new productions we’ve done for Volume Five. Other than that we play it by ear, its always best to feel the vibe and adjust on the night instead of planning too much. afterPARTY: Few words for afterPARTY Romania and Romanian clubbers before coming at WTP? Above & Beyond: We are very much looking forward to coming to Romania for the first time and meeting everyone who’s been waiting to see us. Its particularly exciting to play in Eastern European countries as, from our experience, the people are crazy! |
